About this deal

There are more changes, too. Dreadnoughts no longer follow the traditional vehicle hull rules, and instead have Wounds and Toughness values. Their stats are formatted to be much more similar to those of a soldier. The Liber Hereticus contains rules for all nine Traitor Legions, including Rites of War, Primarchs, Legion-specific units and wargear. If you’re of a more Loyalist bent, the Liber Astartes contains the same for the nine Loyalist Legions. They’re very plain and no-frills, but that’s the point. They’re rules references, they’re not supposed to be daubed in distracting artwork and loads of colour. The information presented is concise yet thorough in an easy-to-read format. These will save gamers a lot of time. Warhammer: The Horus Heresy Construction Guide and Army List Unfortunately, this transfer sheet only has transfers for the Sons of Horus as well as the Imperial Fists. If you were wanting to play any of the other Space Marine Legions, you’ll need to source some other transfers elsewhere.

Here’s the strategy: push the tacticals up in the rhinos, dump them on objectives, and shoot them at stuff you want to die. Follow up that with volleys from your heavy support squads, benefiting from that +1 to hit as you do. It won’t apply to frag missiles, but it will to krak. Anything that won’t fold from your firepower gets a Spartan and then ten terminators to the face. After the slog that was building 40 MKVI Legion Tactical Marines, the Cataphractii Terminators were an absolute breeze. An interesting variant of the standard carrier, the Explorator has a very different role to its larger-capacity counterpart, despite it being built on a similar looking template. It doesn’t come with the hull-mounted bolter as standard, but you can buy one, and so it can end up looking very similar in armament to the Carrier. It doesn’t carry as many passengers however, with a cap of 8 meaning that you’re probably bringing a command squad or five man veteran squad or something similar. It also gets a dozer blade on the front, which is neat but not game changing. Pour one out, my friends, for the Earthshaker cannon. Once it was mighty, now it’s kind of rubbish. The real changes comes from the Explorator Augury Web and the Scout rule. The Augury Web has two modes, one which debuffs enemy reserve rolls and one which allows you to reroll your own. This is extremely good, making reserves much more reliable and interfering something awful with your opponent’s rolls. Scout is also very nice, letting the Explorator edge a bit closer to the action at the start of the game or Outflank, interesting on such a heavy vehicle. This all seems quite interesting and considering what a tough fighting beast this is, it may seem appealing. So let’s get onto the problem. In terms of hitting power, the Kratos sits between the Sicarian and Fellblade , armed with a massive battlecannon, a volkite cardanelle, or a melta blast-gun – in other words, your choice of huge weapon to kill whichever type of unit might give the rest of your army problems. But what do these three new guns do? In terms of the rules themselves, the core rules for Age of Darkness are based off the Warhammer 40,000 Third to Seventh Edition ruleset. As such, regular and veteran players of 40K will likely find plenty here that’s familiar. There are alternative builds for each Terminator: either armed with claws, or a single-handed gun and a suitably grim melee weapon in the other hand. I built five of each, as you can see above. Contemptor Dreadnought Prefer fire, melta, and plasma weapons? There’s an upgrade kit for you! It features 10 plasma cannons, 10 heavy flamers, and 10 multi-meltas.

Alternatively, if you want to chew through massed ranks of enemy infantry, you can go with the volkite cardanelle. This giant heat ray will merrily melt the flesh from their lightly-armoured bones. Its second purpose is flaying the flesh from the bones of the unworthy. After all, should you be a really poor loser, you can always take out your frustration on your enemy with one of these bad boys. Welts for days. Transfer Sheet Our goal is to build upon and consolidate the great work already being done by other community members across various forums, reddit threads, and hobby blogs, and bring together a comprehensive library of all these useful Build Instruction booklets. The rules for Overwatch in the Age of Darkness illustrate this perfectly. Overwatch – the ability to take a pop at a unit charging at you – is now classed as a Reaction. So, when there’s a unit charging at your miniatures, you’ll have the opportunity to try and whittle them down with a few shots before they engage.

Reactions

There’s already so much stuff out for those people wanting to plunge themselves into the Horus Heresy. Getting 10 of each is just so much better than worrying about what you’re arming each model with. Let’s just hope they are easy to magnetize. The Liber Hereticus contains rules for all nine Traitor Legions, including Rites of War, Primarchs, Legion-specific units and wargear. If you’re of a more Loyalist bent, the Liber Astartes contains the same for the nine Loyalist Legions. Kitbashers and converters will also be able to go to town on these guys. Their builds are very simple and modular, which makes chopping and changing parts very easy.

Cataphractii? Well you can run them, but if you can swap them for Tartaros terminators I think it fits the theme well. It doesn’t really matter because the approach will be the same – strap lightning claws to them, run them up in the Spartan, and cause havoc on the charge with the Falcons special rule. The same goes with your Contemptor – you’re going to want to be aggressive, so prioritise weaponry that lets you make the most of that. A melta on the gun arm and a heavy flamer in the fist isn’t a bad idea, though a meltagun in the fist really doubles up on thr From the original leaked blurry images of some yellow and green beakies, to the epic moment it was finally announced at Warhammer Fest 2022, the journey to the Age of Darkness has been a long one for those who have been invested. Incredibly versatile, the Sicaran is the (slightly) heavier battle tank of the Astartes. It comes in five major variants, but they’re all built on the same chassis. A little tougher than the Predator with an extra hull point and 12 armour in the rear, it’s also a little faster (with 16 movement) though not Fast (the type) which is interesting. However, the real meat of the thing is in the armaments. There’s also a range of options for your hull-mounted guns, the sponsons, and a host of pintle-mounted weapons. Or you can add a massive dozer blade to the front! In short, this is a flexible kit that you can really put your own stamp on. This sprue in particular is extremely versatile. If you wish to go a bit off-piste and do your own thing, don’t be afraid to. in fact when sergeant, the guide actually sees you cut the tabs off the model so that you can orient the arms how you wish. The MiniaturesHere we are, ladies and gents. The bit we’ve all been waiting for. We’ve been teased with the brand-new Horus Heresy-era plastic miniatures for months now. Finally, there’s an upgrade kit with 10 volkite culverins, 10 lascannons, and 10 autocannons. New Horus Heresy Expansion Boxes & Rulebooks Unveiled!

The army list section has a lot of detail in it, with datasheets for all the units, as well as further weapons information for some of the units. Though the average gw-hater will likely whine “look at this upsell”. For those new to HH (the primary target audience here), It’s a rudimentary but very useful resource to have, and will enable gamers to get playing with their new miniatures the moment they’re built. Wargear Since you have to bring the gravis lascannons in the sponsons (which are fantastic) there’s little reason not to load a twin-linked lascannon up front. You can add a pintle mounted multi-melta if you want for more killing power, but it’s really a matter of taste, and this is one of the few vehicles (thanks to Power of the Machine Spirit letting you split your fire however you like) where you can bring pretty much any weapon you choose and it’ll do something. Definitely don’t bring the hunter-killer missile though, come on now. Hellfire Plasma Cannonade: Now this is a spicy meatball. The standard firing mode, basically a long range plasma gun with a load of shots and without gets hot, is great, but the maximal mode is absolutely bonkers. It’s basically a gravis plasma cannon (which is already great) but with Strength 8, triggering Instant Death on a whole mess of stuff. Awesome for heavy infantry hunting. The only sprues we’ve done are the ones for the Cataphractii Terminators and the MKVI Legion Tactical Marines. This is because the other units are on their own unique sprue(s) and only build a single model. There isn’t masses coloured because there’s a great deal of choice as to how you can assemble your miniatures. Nice! Cataphractii Terminators Sprue Finally (before we get to the main turret weapons) the Arcus can have a Helical Targeting Array and yes take this it’s amazing. 15 points is not a heavy price for the benefits. With 40 MKVI Legion Tactical Marines in the box, you’ll spend the majority of your time building these little guys. This set contains a total of four sprues: The first sprue contains 5 Missile Launchers and 5 Heavy Bolters, and is included twice. The second sprue contains MkVI arm pairs for the shoulder-mounted heavy weapons and two augury scanners, and is also included twice. This sprue will no doubt also be used in the two other Heavy Weapon sets that have been announced. Space Marine tactical squads are able to freely select their squad’s armament for a given mission, and the Chapter Armoury contains many weapons that are ancient and sacred relics.
