About this deal

Whenever you replace the Roomba i7 vacuum to a place it does not recognize, it automatically starts a new map, using its iAdapt 3.0 Navigation system. And after one or two runs of that floor, it will be fully mapped out in the robot’s memory. Let’s get more in-depth with how it actually works, including how the Roomba i7 can clean multiple floors down to how often you should be emptying it. How Does the Roomba i7 Robot Vacuum Work With Multiple Floors? The Roomba i7 Plus doesn’t have an automatic carpet detection function. Thus, it also doesn’t increase the suction power automatically when it drives on a carpet. Now, we’ll jump into the full comparison of the Roomba i7 vs the Dyson Heurist and see how they fare against each other in terms of design, mapping, battery life, cleaning performance, and other features. Design

You have to decide for yourself whether the luxury of the self-emptying base is worth the higher price. We hope our iRobot Roomba i7+ review helps.

How we tested

The clean base has the following dimensions: height: 48 cm (18.9 inches) x depth: 15 cm (5.9 inches) x width: 18 cm (7 inches).

The Roomba i7+ ability to clean large particles and hair effectively gives it an edge over the Dyson in cleaning performance. The Dyson’s 330ml bin capacity will get filled up in no time and you’ll have to empty it. With the Roomba, that’s not an issue for weeks on end, if not months. Unfortunately, the i7+ can’t climb stairs yet, but you can easily transport it from floor to floor, thanks to the convenient carrying handle. However, the iRobot Roomba i7 obviously can’t achieve a perfect result in corners because of its round shape.

The Roomba i7+ does come with a slightly higher price tag of these two products but offers more value. If you are concerned about price, the i7 without the clean base is still a great choice and we’d recommend this over the Dyson Heurist too. Add to this some of the other features that Roomba has, including more voice commands, dirt detect and of course, the self-emptying base that requires less frequent intervention and is particularly appealing to larger homes. The Roomba i7+ does a great job here, too, and removes 60% of the sand on the short carpet and 70% on the higher carpet. In terms of build, the s9+ measures 12.3 in x 3.5 inches, while the i7+ measures 13.3 x 3.7 inches. So you’re getting a slightly bulkier design with the i7+, making it the less ideal option for reaching into small spaces and clearing under furniture. Despite this, the s9+ weighs more — at 8.2 pounds compared to 7.4 pounds; the difference is minimal, but it is surprising considering the smaller build of the s9+. This gives the s9+ a slightly more solid feel, but on the whole there’s not much in it. But the Roomba i7 Plus Robot Vacuum also offers excellent performance paired with premium features. It can’t be all good things though, so what might possibly be wrong with this Roomba i7+ Robot Vacuum? The One Downside of the Roomba i7 Robot Vacuum Both the Dyson 360 Heurist and the Roomba i7 use vSLAM (Visual simultaneous localization and mapping) as their method of mapping. This relies on visual cameras to map out the room using key landmarks in the room to navigate. Both vacuums create floor plans that are stored in the map and can work on multiple floors in your home. Based on the design, both products have their differences, each comes with advantages that may suit your home better. Hence, we’ll call it a draw here. Furthermore, the smart vacuum cleaner robot also has a convenient carrying handle (4), so you can easily carry it from floor to floor. The previous generation of Dyson struggled to navigate low-light areas effectively, however the Heurist fixes this thanks to a ring of LED lights on the top that illuminate the room so that the cameras can see.

The map will be ready to go after 3 - 4 cleaning runs at the latest, so you can access it in the app. But this isn’t a big deal since you’ll probably rarely use the robot vacuum at night - Unless you want to annoy your neighbours ?. Obstacle detection With the iRobot Home app (Android and iOS) you can create custom cleaning programs to vacuum specific areas at the touch of a button or whenever you schedule it. In addition to “Keep Out Zones,” you can create “Clean Zones” for tidying up areas that get the most traffic. So, for example, you can program them to clean under the dining room table after each meal. Since the Roomba i7+ probably cleans the home several times a week, dirt can hardly accumulate in the corners. The robotic vacuum cleans our home almost every day. Dirt can hardly accumulate on carpets or in corners. You can operate the following touch screen buttons at the robot vacuum’s top: " Clean" (2) (start/stop cleaning process), " Home" (3) (return to charging station) and " Spot Clean" (1) (clean one precise spot). Oh yes - don't forget to open all the doors. Now the robotic vacuum cleaner can reach every spot in your home. With the robot, there’s a smooth transition between different floor types thanks to the cleaning head that automatically adjusts itself to the optimum level. Of course, the cleaning process is fully automated and you don’t have to empty the bin by yourself.
